A fire broke out at the state government headquarters in central Ulaanbaatar on Monday (20th of March), forcing the evacuation of more than 200 officials as it engulfed the second floor of the building. Fire engines and emergency teams rushed to the 11th government building on Victory Square near Tengis cinema in Chingeltei district of Ulaanbaatar at 1.15 p.m. According to one source, some of furniture caught fire. An investigation is underway as to the cause of the fire.
The building is the headquarters of the General Election Commission and the Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection as well as many other government departments.
