Research carried out by the Mongolian Ministry of the Health and Sport and the World Health Organization (WHO), show that 54% of all adults, 14% of the children under the age of five and 12% of all teenagers are overweight. The WHO study reveals that 30% of overweight people started to gain weight in childhood.
The WHO is struggling actively fighting obesity. WHO representative, professor Barrie Margetts has adviced that: “Children buy unhealthy junk foods from shops close to their schools. Therefore, the changes should start from here. This is essential to change the nutrition habits before they get older. In other words, state policy is required to struggle with child obesity”.
